Read any good books?

Please provide the title and a quick blurb about any Young Adult Novel you have read and/or have used with your classes.

If interested you can create an online booklist and hold book club meetings at www.goodreads.com. Check it out if you have not; it seems really interesting.

Dark Sons by Nikki Grimes was a quick and interesting read. The pairing of bibical and "real" characters using verse was surprising and thought provoking. The book can work with all age readers with slight variations.

Our school started a summer reading program where students meet three times throughout the summer. They read a different book each time, and when they get together, they form groups based on the books they've read, and spend the morning discussing the books with an adult "leader." The afternoons are then spent doing a "fun" activity after they've enjoyed a lunch provided by our reading department. Two of the books they are discussing this summer include Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis, and Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.
