Florida Department of Education Sunshine Standards Alert!!!

Language Arts

Senate Bill 1908 enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida in July 1, 2008, instructs the State Board of Education to review the Sunshine State Standards and replace them with the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. The process for the review, revision and approval of the new standards is outlined in Senate Bill 1908.

The proposed revisions to Florida's Language Arts standards are now available for public comment at the Language Arts Standards Review website. In the interest of ensuring that these standards are clear, concise, and accurate, the Office of Humanities in the Florida Department of Education invites you to rate each of the benchmarks and provide valuable feedback to the writers. If you would like to explore the source materials from which the 2009 revised standards will be derived, please review the Language Arts resources used by the framers and writers in the review process.

The proposed revisions to Florida's Language Arts Access Points are now available for public comment at the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards Language Arts Access Point Public Review on-line survey. In the interest of ensuring that these access points are clear, concise, and accurate, the Office of Humanities in the Florida Department of Education invites you to rate each of the access points and provide valuable feedback to the writers.

The 2007 Reading and Language Arts standards under the process of review and revision stated by Senate Bill 1908 are available for viewing.
